Smt. Priyanka Niranjan is an IAS officer of 2013 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. She was serving as DM of Basti district before being posted as District Magistrate Mirzapur. In her earlier stint she has worked as DM Jalaun, Special Secretary, Irrigation & Water Resource Department, Govt. of U.P.LUCKNOW, Chief Development Officer MIRZAPUR. She has completed her schooling from Jalaun. After this, she graduated from Allahabad University. From the same university, she has obtained a post-graduation degree in Economics. Priyanka Niranjan, a research scholar in Allahabad University, had secured 20th rank in 2012 civil services exams. PM Modi praised Priyanka Niranjan, a 2013-batch IAS officer who restored Noon river in Jalaun district of UP, in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. The river, which had been on the verge of extinction for 20 years, was revived through public participation, and now, thousands of farmers would benefit from it. Mrs. Niranjan had earlier worked on the ‘Karnavati River’ in Mirzapur, for which Mirzapur had received the National Water Prize. The restoration work of Manorama River (130 kilometer long river) started on March 22, 2023 the day of World Water Conservation Day by Mrs Niranjan when she was DM Basti. She herself took the initiative to bring this river back into shape by using a shovel. The result of this was that once again the Manorama River is slowly returning to its old existence.
