Mirzapur

Mirzapur is a prominent city in Uttar Pradesh, India, serving as the headquarters of the Mirzapur district. Located about 87 km from Allahabad and 67 km from Varanasi, it recorded a population of nearly 2.5 million in the 2011 census.

The city is globally renowned for its carpet and brassware industries. It blends urban and rural charm, surrounded by scenic hills, waterfalls, and revered shrines like Vindhyachal, Ashtbhuja, and Kali Khoh. Originally a dense forest, Mirzapur was established by the British East India Company as a major trading hub, eventually deriving its name from “Mirza,” meaning “place of the king.”
